In today's scientific studies of all areas, the roles of computer and information devices increase day by day. By now, we cannot even imagine engineering or natural science without information devices. Also, considering the conditions of the Republic of Korea, cultivation of information industry based in high-quality human resources becomes as important as to decide the fate of the national economy.

Computer science covers not only the interior of computers and their interactions as the most important subject but also research on more efficient exchange with computers. Research of human linguistic custom and thinking process is conducted within the area of computer science. Hence, computer science is being established as a new integrated science in the new era when psychology, philosophy, linguistics and contemporary mathematics are all combined.

In the process, the department was established in 1987, followed by opening of the master's and doctoral degree courses in 1991 and 1997, respectively, perfecting the foundation as a recognized professional education provider.

The department is very creative and diverse in nature and any student wishing to lead the future can adapt to the course to realize their ambition. Development of computer science makes affiliated areas even wider and variously talented students are supported even more.

Graduates from this department play leading roles in all industrial areas covering computation mostly applying computers and their applied areas. As the fundamentals and the basics are provided by the department, students will adapt to various applications without labor in the future. The department is exerting every possible effort to realize a better future.
