Introduction to Department

Contemporary electronic engineering, developed with the ground-breaking advancement of semi-conductors is changing the society in diverse areas of information and communication, multi-media and semi-conductor medical appliances, providing the driving force to lead the future industries. Especially, the prominent development of computer communication network hardware and software has enabled diverse information exchanges applying broadband comprehensive information communication network, enabling practical application of information.

Hence, improvement in productivity using computers and value creation of information for qualitative improvement of human life are much more important, making it urgent to develop human resources to lead in these areas.

In response to such changes of our time, College of Natural Sciences의 Department of Information Engineering was integrated with Department of Applied Electronics Engineering, resulting in the opening of Department of Electronic and Information Engineering in 1996. Department of Electronic and Information Engineering is where the faculty with research experiences from prominent domestic and overseas universities and research agencies will teach in the areas of electronic and information covering information engineering, signal processing, medical electronics, new functional devices, super high-frequency communication, computer hardware, system software, communication and computer network.

There are laboratories exclusively used by the department and equipped with contemporary measuring equipment. Also, 64 bit RISC-applied WORKSTATION is in use as a server while network laboratories exclusively used by students are inter-working with each professor's room via LAN, securing the optimum education and research system. Students can open their own websites using such an advanced system and freely benefits from the changing environment by receiving assignments, submitting products and discussing using the internet.

  1. 01What aptitudes are appropriate to enter the department?
    Department of Electronics and Information Engineering is changing the society in various areas. It is an area to lead the future industrial society. Hence, people who are creative with liberal ways of thinking and like to solve problems voluntarily will do better in this department. Department of Electronic and Information Engineering is where the faculty with research experiences from prominent domestic and overseas universities and research agencies will teach in the areas of electronic and information covering information engineering, signal processing, medical electronics, new functional devices, super high-frequency communication, computer hardware, system software, communication and computer network. There are laboratories exclusively used by the department and equipped with contemporary measuring equipment. Also, high-performance WORKSTATION is in use as a server while network laboratories exclusively used by students are inter-working with each professor's room via LAN, securing the optimum education and research system. Students can adapt to the changing environment in times of information and communication through experiment and practice using such an advanced system.
  2. 02Are their extracurricular activities?
    There are small groups of extracurricular activities. Among others, Tech01 was established for exploration and development of hardware and software. The members hold an exhibition to deliver their products in the first semester and host symposiums of seminar types in the second semester. COMOTY basically works on programming language, object-oriented modeling, optimization of class structure and function and database design and materialization.
  3. 03What are the career paths after graduation?
    Graduates enter various social institutions in the area of information industry such as industrial sources, government-funded research agencies, public institutions and hospitals. Recently, graduates actively open their businesses in the area of IT.
