Non-campus/National Scholarships

Scholarships are obtained from outside scholarship foundations, outside companies, organizations and philanthropists to help students with outstanding grades or students having financial difficulties, and over 190 scholarship benefits are provided including KU Alumni Scholarship.

1. Scholarship Application Method

Application Method & Timeline

Each college has a different application method and timeline, therefore contact the corresponding academic support.
For colleges with no special operation method, write an application within one month of the final exam period (Korea University Portal System - Knowledge Information - Administration - Student Information - Form-Non-Campus Scholarship application form and required documents) to register along with registration document at the corresponding college.

Scholarship foundations with public selection process post information regarding the scholarship on the university homepage or the college message board immediately after announcing the scholarship.

KU Alumni Association, Soongduk Scholarship Society, Gibbun Woori Rehabilitation Center, Silla Cultural Scholarship Foundation, Sinyang Cultural Foundation, Yulrim Scholarship Foundation, Haiam Scholarhsip Foundation, Dooeul Scholarship Foundation, Hangyeongbuk-do Scholarship Foundation, Altwell Mincho Scholarship Foundation, Wuhak Foundation, KEB Nanum Foundation, Wooyang Scholarship Foundation, KOSFFL, STX Scholarship Foundation, RHOF, Mirae Asset (foreign exchange student scholarship), etc.

  • Each foundation has different eligibility criteria for scholarship recommendations. Therefore, not all requests are recommended to the foundations, and the students will receive individual contacts from academic support if they are recommended.
  • After the recommendations and the scholarship foundations make their final decision, the scholarship payment will be made to the student ID account, and when transferred, an instructional note will be sent to the student’s home. The student is requested to send a thank you letter to the foundation’s address.

The grantees have a duty to participate in events such as scholarship foundation meeting and award ceremony.
The grantees of the scholarship will be paid to the principle of registration students are required to register

2. Recommendations and Scholarship Confirmed

New recommendations

When a scholarship organization request recommendations for scholarship, the number ratio of students requiring scholarship will be calculated for the assessment of the recommendations. However, if the non-campus organization requests a criteria of recommendations (such as, birth location, school year, and major), then the school provide the required students if there are no reason for disqualification.

Replacement Recommendations

If a reason for replacement of scholarship is found, the scholarship confirmed will be transferred to another student.

Continues Recommendations

In accordance with provisions of scholarship foundation, recommendation process if there is no reason for disqualification.
