Korean Unification, Diplomacy and Security aims to develop professionals who are devoted to international issues such as the inter-Korean relationship and national unification. Its goal is to cultivate students with leadership capabilities, a global mind, and pragmatic communication skills. As a result, students shall take a comprehensive and in-depth look at four aspects of this major- the North, unification, diplomacy and security.
Courses are not limited strictly to North Korean politics, economy, and society, but look also at diplomacy and security. Additionally, in keeping with the current trends of internationalization and globalization, most of the courses are designed in English. The faculty is also well-versed in Korean Unification, Diplomacy and Security, and is known for producing excellent students. Members of the faculty include Hoyeol Yoo (Ph.D. Political Science, North Korea Studies, Ohio State University, Dean of School), Seongwook Nam (Ph.D. Economics, North Korea Economies, University of Missouri), and Hyeongchan Kim (Ph.D. Education, North Korea Political Philosophy, George Peabody College).
This academic characteristic makes it desirable to comprehensively approach education from the four perspectives of the North, unification, diplomacy, and security.
