Introduction

In the Department of Economics and Statistics, students study analysis of the economy based on statistics with the mission of researching government policy. Economics and Statistics are important fields in terms of social and national decision-making. Additionally, students are provided with access to a comprehensive range of studies, from investigating the principles of the market economy to reviewing tangible, pressing economic issues and analyzing public policy. In particular, this major contributes to not only government, but also to the public sector with its mission of analyzing economic issues and public policy with the volumes of material available through big data.

In addition, students have an opportunity to major in other subjects belonging to the Department of Economics and Statistics, such as Public Sociology, Korean Unification, Diplomacy, or the Department of Public Administration.

Career options for graduates are various. A significant number of graduates are working actively for large companies, banks, stock firms, government-sponsored institutions, research agencies and media outlets. They are involved in analyzing social issues based on numerical data. Many graduates are engaged in major enterprises, banks, securities companies, government-funded organizations, research institutes, and the media. The Department of Economics and Statistics aims to nurture students to meet the demands of companies, and it is expected for the demand for graduates to continue increasing.
