Development Fund Donation and Golf Talent Training Program Scholarship Ceremony Held

On July 16, the Development Fund Donation and Golf Talent Training Program Scholarship Ceremony was held in room 112 of Korea University Sejong Campus’s Sukwon Hall. The ceremony was held to celebrate the donation made by the president of OKCAT World, Kim Misuk, and the CEO of Lowe Korea, Kim Eunju, and also to hand out scholarships to student golf athletes to put towards their training.

First off, the donation ceremony in honor of Kim Misuk (Geography Education, class of ‘81) and Kim Eunju (EMBA12) was held. Kim Misuk donated 10 million won with the intent of improving education and the research environment in the Sejong Campus. Kim Eunju donated 5 million won in addition to her 2018 donation of 10 million won, further demonstrating her interest in the school.

As the ceremony ended, Kim Hanok (German Language and Literature, Class of ‘70) and Yoo Myeongwoo (3-time recipient of Policy Master's degree) donated 5 million won on the spot.

Vice-president Kim Young said, “I would like to show our appreciation to the Gangnam alumni association for their continuous interest and support. Due to that support, the Sejong Campus is developing further everyday”.

After the donation ceremony, the Gold Talent Training Program Scholarship transfer ceremony was held. Since 2018, Yoo Myeongwook has been fulfilling his agreement to give 100 million won in scholarships to four golf athletes. For the first semester of 2020, Gu Gywon and No Seunghui, both from the Division of Global Sports Studies, were selected and given 2.5 million won each as scholarships.

On this day, No Seunghui was not able to participate in the ceremony but showed her appreciation by sending a message, saying, “I would like to thank the Gangnam Alumni Association, and with this motivation, I will give it my best to gain good results.” No Seunghui is in currently in the midst of some intense training due to her participation in the Jeju Samdasoo KLPGA tournament that is being held on July 30.
