Exploring Virtual Reality: Korea University Sejong Campus Metaverse Society “United” Tours ARVR Center
Taking the Lead in Industry-University Driven Metaverse Development
On May 22, the metaverse society of Korea University Sejong Campus, ‘United,’ as its debut activity, toured the school’s ARVR Center to experience industrial technologies. ‘United’ was recently launched by the Crimson Institute for Industry-Academia Convergence as part of its 'Crimson Brain'* project aimed at helping students become more familiarized with the metaverse.
Park Jinho, a semiconductor engineering professor, introduced students to cutting-edge metaverse models such as the Virtual Angkor Wat Project, a sophisticated digital recreation of the historical complex. Relevant instances of university-industry collaborations were also presented.
‘United’ is the one and only metaverse association in Sejong City. Its stand-alone projects, which include Sejong AR Landmark and AR Tech Development, assist students in becoming qualified for employment in the field.
"We are delighted to support United's activities," remarked Kim Hwi, director of the Crimson Institute for Industry-Academia Convergence. "We also intend to carry out several industry-university projects that may contribute to the local community and industry."
Members of United will be able to participate in industry-university projects beginning with this tour; exploring metaverse technology will significantly boost their career development. With further collaboration with local industries, the society is expected to assume the role of the leading metaverse organization, propelling regional growth.
One of the members commented, "I enjoyed experiencing different metaverse projects on this tour. I hope to take part in future activities to improve my knowledge and skills in the field."
