KU Sejong Campus LINC 3.0 ICMC Cultural Arts Convergence Content Center Visits Daejeon Convention Center MICE

The Sejong ICMC Cultural Arts Convergence Content Center, part of the Korea University LINC 3.0 Foundation, took a tour of the Daejeon Convention Center, which is operated by the Daejeon Tourism Organization. The tour was conducted as part of a career and employment exploration involving academia, industry, and local communities.

On March 27, approximately thirty students enrolled in a course on understanding the convention and exhibition industry visited the exhibition halls and conference facilities of the Center to engage in a field-oriented exploration that compares theory with practice.

Yoon Youngsook, a team manager of the organization, introduced Daejeon as an exciting city with ‘innovative tourism city branding’ and as a hub for the global MICE industry. She also explained the job competencies required to be employed in the convention and exhibition industry.

Afterwards, an executive from the center marketing team guided the students through Exhibition Hall 1 and Exhibition Hall 2. Exhibition Hall 1, opened in 2008, includes 20 large, medium, and small conference rooms and 110 exhibition booths, allowing for the simultaneous attendance of approximately 5,000 people. Moreover, Exhibition Hall 2, opened in 2022, contains 520 exhibition booths and offers a vast space that can accommodate fairs and K-POP concerts, with a maximum attendance capacity of 10,000 people. The students spent time examining the functions and characteristics of the spaces directly.

Oh Minju, a student from the Department of Public Sociology who participated in the field trip, said, "I was able to experience firsthand the content learned in the lectures, and could solve concerns about my future career and potential employment."

Professor Kim Kwanghoon who conducted this field trip stated, "Through the convention exhibition site visits, I hope to broaden students’ perspectives on various expositions and the MICE industry, and to assist them in exploring careers and employment. We plan to continue increasing practical training and site visits linked with public institutions and professional companies in the field of cultural content industry."
