Supporting Technology Development through the ‘Blue Tech Open Innovation Program’

Korea University Sejong LINC 3.0 Foundation Signs Operational Agreement with SK Ecoplant and the Korea Institute of Marine Science & Technology Promotion

On July 5, the ICC General Center under the Korea University Sejong LINC 3.0 Foundation signed an operational agreement with SK Ecoplant and the Korea Institute of Marine Science & Technology Promotion (KIMST) for the ‘Blue Tech Open Innovation Program.’

The event, held at the SK Ecoplant headquarters in Jongno, Seoul, was attended by representatives from Korea University Sejong Campus, KIMST, SK Ecoplant, Gyeongsangnam-do, and the Gyeongnam Creative Economy Innovation Center.

The ‘Blue Tech Open Innovation Program’ aims to discover and nurture startups with innovative technologies in the marine and eco-friendly materials sectors. It is expected to significantly aid promising startups that have technologies or ideas but face challenges in realizing their business potential.

Korea University Sejong Campus will provide technology development consulting and support technology commercialization through the university's resources for the discovered startups. KIMST will offer commercialization funds and Proof of Concept (PoC) funding, while SK Ecoplant will participate in the discovery of startups, verification of target technologies, and subsequent investments. Gyeongsangnam-do and the Gyeongnam Creative Economy Innovation Center will assist with government funding, policy support, and connecting follow-up investments.

Yoo Jaehyun, Director of the ICC General Center stated, "This agreement will lay the foundation for mutual growth among industry, academia, and research through consulting support and the linkage of Korea University's technologies to support the development of innovative technologies in the marine and eco-friendly materials sectors. We will continue to actively support the creation of a startup ecosystem and the establishment of a sustainable environment through collaboration with large corporations and public institutions."
