<Rose of Sharon Festival Held as a Reminder of Love for the Country>

From August 15 to 16, the 29th Rose of Sharon Festival was held at the Sejong Government Convention Center. This festival, held by Sejong City and the Korea Forest Service, celebrates Korean Independence Movement Day and the 100-year celebration of the Establishment of the Republic of Korea’s Provisional Government. The event's main theme was, 'Rose of Sharon, Unity into One,' to refresh our love for our national flower and allegiance for the country. This two-day festival was concluded successfully with the attendance and participation of 13,000 visitors.

On the morning of the 15th, the event opened with many visitors pouring in, which added greater meaning to Korean Independence Day. To match the event's theme, there were many displays of Rose of Sharon pots and arches which expressed its exclusive beauty. In addition, ten cultural performances such as fusion Korean traditional music, a choir performance, a magic show, and a bubble show were held for the family visitors. In total, there were twenty activities held that were related to the Rose of Sharon like food tasting and flower planting.

Im Danbi, a student from the Faculty of Economics, said, "I participated in the event to commemorate our country's Independence Day and the 100th anniversary for the Establishment of the Republic of Korea’s Provisional Government and the Independence Movement. As a citizen of Sejong City, I was glad I spent this glorious day in such a manner. I do hope more events like these are to come.”
